FIELD TRIPS AT BREEDEN’S ORCHARD

2023 GENERAL INFORMATION:

Public & Private Schools-

  • Field trips to Breeden’s Orchard are suitable for children from Pre-K through Second Grade (approx. 4 years of age-8 years age)

  • We request a minimum of 15 children and have a maximum of 150 children.  (the maximum number can be adjusted on days the orchard is closed to the public).

  • Field trips are offered on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 10am OR 12:30pm

  • Field trips last about 2 hours and are generally structured as follows:

    • 10-minute arrival

    • 35 to 45-minute educational experience 

      • Educational experiences are seasonably offered but some examples include: Lifecycle of Peaches and Sunflowers, Pollinators in Our World, Bees, Lifecycle of an Apple….etc.

    • 25-minute lunch time

    • 25 to 35 -minute playtime 

    • 10-minute departure 

Home Schools-

  • Field trips to Breeden’s Orchard are suitable for children from Pre-K through Second Grade (approx. 5 years of age-8 years age). We do not require children to all be the same age but do ask for a general idea of the ages of children in attendance so that we can plan activities for all.

  • A minimum of 15 children must be in attendance with a maximum attendance of 60.

  • Field trips are offered on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, timing and field trip duration are flexible and created on a case-by-case basis. 


BOOKING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Each student, parent chaperone(s), and any additional children are $10 each, teachers and school bus operators are free.

  • For Public or Private schools we require a signed agreement to formally book a field trip.  We will invoice the school and then discuss how and when payment will be made.  

  • For Home school groups.  We can create a ticket page where parents can pay individually if desired.  

  • We ask for a general idea of the number of students for planning purposes.

  • A final headcount, full payment, and any tax-exempt documentation are due seven (7) days prior to the scheduled event. 


When your school has decided on your day and time, please email aimee@breedensorchard to confirm availability.  Once your day and time is booked, you will receive a confirmation letter.  


 

CANCELLATION POLICY:

Cancellations made within 2 weeks of the scheduled field trip will incur a cancellation fee unless canceled due to severe weather.  Cancellations made prior to the 2-week window of the event will not incur any fee.  Rescheduled field trips will not incur a fee.  

WEATHER STATEMENT:

Field trips are predominantly held outside. In the case of inclement weather, we will do our best to accommodate our scheduled field trips in any way we can. Whenever possible, we will seek to reschedule OR determine if the field trip size is suitable to be held inside.

OTHER DETAILS:

We are afarm.  Parents are encouraged to send their children to school  on Breeden’s field trip day in close toed shoes.  Based on the weather conditions of that day, rainboots, ponchos, sun screen and hats are also recommended.  Basically be prepared. 

Field trips must be booked in advance.  We host them on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.  

Our apple field trip is good for preschool thru 3rd grade.  

At this time there is no apple picking at our orchard as our juvenile trees are too young to produce. 

Breeden’s Field Trip FAQS

  1. When can we book our field trip?  Field trips are offered Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays.   Tuesdays & Wednesdays 10 am or 12:30 pm, Thursday 12:30 pm

  2. How do we book our field trip?  Fill out the attached form and we will confirm your date and send you an invoice for a  $50 deposit to reserve your date.  Deposits can be paid online with a credit card.   We require the balance to be paid in full, 1 week prior to your date.  

  3. Cancellation Policy?  You may cancel the field trip up to 2 weeks prior to your date with no penalty.    No penalty will be assessed if cancellation is due to weather and an alternate trip date is booked.  If you have to cancel after the 2 week cut off,  we will keep your $50 deposit.  

  4. Day of info?   Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of your trip..  We have outdoor picnic table seating and can store lunches till you are ready for them.  Farm attire and closed toed footwear is recommended.
